Simon
Simon had been at the Menominee Animal Shelter in Michigan for a very long time and had not found a home due to several issues. Simon had severe separation anxiety and was extremely thunder phobic. These behavioral issues made families reluctant to adopt him, and rescue organizations unwilling to accept such a challenging Golden.

Rusty
Rusty was a golden mix that was literally dumped at the shelter in Indiana by his family. They actually threw him over the fence and fled the scene. He was very under weight, approx 46 pounds. Rusty was able to work his charm on Mary at the shelter, and she in turn contacted Golden Friends Rescue to see if we could help. I took one look at Rusty and I knew I had to help save him.

Chrissy
Chrissy was rescued as a stray and she was placed in a home by Cleveland County Humane Society in North Carolina.
Several months later they got a call that poor Chrissy had been taken to a kill shelter (gassing shelter) by her owner, despite a contract that she was to be returned to the Cleveland County Humane Society if the owner could not keep her.
They discovered that the neighbor’s teenage boys had been shooting Chrissy and their other dog with BB guns.

Rusty
We had been working with Donna, who volunteers at the Pike County Animal Shelter in Kentucky helping her with several of their dogs on Petfinder, when she asked if Golden Friends Rescue could save a sweet Golden mix named Rusty.
He had already been at their shelter for several weeks, and
was due to be euthanized soon.

Emmi was a stray, and is a Golden Retriever mix. She was rescued with Rusty (above) and became known as one of the "Kentucky 4!"
She was spayed when she got to Minnesota by RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota) and her trip and vet clearance from Kentucky were paid for by Golden Friends Rescue.

Chance
Chance was brought into the Pike County Animal Shelter as
a stray. Chance also got his new "chance" at life courtesy of
Golden Friends Rescue, who paid for shots and Vet clearance
and arranged transportation for Chance.
Chance was rescued with Rusty (above) and became known
as the "Kentucky 4" with Rusty, Emmi, and Scarlet!

Scarlet
Scarlet had recently had a litter of puppies and all were born dead. She was then turned into the shelter by her uncaring owner.
Luckily Scarlet was rescued with three other Goldens and became known as one of the "Kentucky 4" with Rusty, Emmi, and Chance!

Lady
"11 year old golden on Craig's list in my area"
That is how we were introduced to Lady, October 26, 2009. Marie, one of our rescue members, had found this ad and posted it on our Golden Friends Rescue forum.
The ad began "A darling of a pet, Lady is around 11 years old and has lived in the country all of her life. Unfortunately, we will be moving to Texas and there's "No Pets Allowed" in our new apartment."
